Two people were arrested after a neighbor spotted suspicious activity in a nearby residence. On September 3, Redmond Police Officers executed a warrant on a residence in the 300 block of SE 5th street, Redmond. A report of suspicious activity at the residence prompted an investigation leading to the arrest of a 37-year-old man from Klamath Falls, and 33- year-old woman from La Pine for Burglary, Forgery, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Theft of Services. The couple broke into the residence, which had been previously vacant, and were living at the location for several days. Officers were able to make contact with the homeowners who live out of state to confirm no one should be living in the home.
Upon searching the residence officers located powdered fentanyl as well as other forms of drug paraphernalia. Fraudulent documents attempting to show the two had rented the residence were also located during the investigation and a 9 mm handgun was recovered. The two were booked into Deschutes County Jail.
