A routine traffic stop led to drug bust that yielded five pounds of methamphetamine in La Pine. According to Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, on February 12th, 2025, a deputy conducted a routine traffic stop for a speed violation in La Pine. During the course of the traffic stop the deputy established reasonable suspicion there was controlled substances located in the vehicle.
The deputy requested a narcotics K-9, who responded to the scene. The narcotics K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle. A search warrant was applied for and granted. A commercial quantity, approximately five pounds of methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle.
A 61-year-old Bend man was taken into custody without incident and jailed on ORS 475.894 Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, ORS 475.890 Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.
