Too many of our Central Oregon neighbors face food insecurity. Fortunately, there are several nonprofit organizations in our region that are dedicated to helping. Food insecurity has become a pressing problem, especially during the pandemic. In Central Oregon, the tri-county region faces a critical need for food assistance. Feeding America’s 2021 data reveals that 2,740 residents in Crook County, 18,800 residents in Deschutes County, and 2,920 residents in Jefferson County are food insecure. These numbers are alarming, and we need your help to make a difference.

World Food Day, established by the United Nations, serves as a reminder that millions of people worldwide cannot afford a healthy and nutritious diet. It is a call to action for our community to come together and make a difference. The nonprofit organizations listed below regularly partner on projects and are committed to providing help, resources, and delivering healthy food to those in need.

You can make a difference by volunteering your time or making a gift to support these organizations. Whether you can spare a few hours to help distribute food or contribute financially, every contribution counts. Together, we can make a significant impact on food insecurity in Central Oregon.

Join us on October 16, 2023, for Central Oregon’s World Food Day. Together, let’s raise awareness, support our local nonprofit organizations, and work towards a community where everyone has access to healthy and nutritious food.
